Research
As we step into the 21st century, we are observing revolutionary developments in the world of communications technology. In particular, the proliferation of computer networks and wireless communication, along with the rapid development in computing technologies, is creating a solid infrastructure which enables distributed applications to flourish.
This complex distributed architecture is not only growing in size, but also in the number of resources that represent value. For example, financial and medical information can now be accessed and modified via an Internet connection. This situation presents us with a variety of short-term and long-term challenges encompassing a multitude of interconnected security problems spanning across several disciplines. Unfortunately, these aspects have been widely underestimated or ignored in the past.
The mission of the Cryptography and Information Security (CRIS) group is to address these problems in various levels by developing new security technologies to ensure the safety of all facets of the communication infrastructure bridging the gap between cutting edge research and solid engineering practices providing the perfect setting for the education of next generation security experts and cryptographers etc.
Typical applications of our Research includes embedded applications smart cards (e.g., for identification and financial transactions) content delivery services (e.g., pay-per-view audio/video) wireless networks etc.
The current research interests of CRIS include but are not limited to:- Crypto for Ultra-Low Power Devices
- Trusted Computing
- Arithmetic Algorithms
- True Random Number Generators
- Fault Tolerant Cryptography
- Cryptography for Network Processors
- Quantum Cryptographic Algorithms
- Digital IC Fingerprinting
